Weldon’s Western Wear Store’s Founder Leaving Retail After 60 Years Weldon Burgoon, who began riding in rodeos in the 1940’s as a teenager and later founded Weldon’s Western Wear and Saddle Shop, is retiring from the store after more than 60 years. Burgoon has also been a dominant figure in promoting and helping the youth in the North Texas area over the decades. He is a prominent player in the annual Denton County Livestock Youth Fair and Rodeo, the Blue Ribbon Club (a youth-oriented organization promoting Denton County youth in agriculture) and the North Texas Fair and Rodeo.
