  • 5 New Year’s Resolutions to Grow Your Collaborative Divorce Practice in 2022

We have been saying during the pandemic that “This is Collaborative’s Time to Shine!” If one of your goals for 2022 is to grow your Collaborative Divorce practice, we have some suggestions for New Year’s Resolutions that will make a difference in your practice.  2. Use Collaborative Divorce not Collaborative Law or Collaborative Practice.  We like to say that you need to speak the language of a potential client that is looking for information about divorce.  Law and Practice is internal language and tying the word collaborative to the area of practice means that you are speaking their language and just hoping that they can figure it out. 3. Use a video such as this Story of the Orange Explainer Video to help potential clients…

  • Blog, Blog, Blog – Yeah But…

Blog, Blog, Blog… if you have ever been to one of my training events you know that this is a mantra that I often repeat. Google tells us that blogging is the best thing that you can do for your website. Through the years, I have had clients who do nothing for SEO other than consistently writing new blogs.  Their web traffic has grown dramatically because of the new content they are writing for their website. There are, however, some pretty big “Yeah, Buts” that keep this from becoming a reality for a lot of collaborative professionals. Here are some tips on writing blogs that will help to grow traffic into your website. What makes it a blog? A blog is an article on your…

  • The Wesleyan Character of Methodist Centrists

“Let us know the meaning of the word (Methodist). Let us not always be fighting in the dark. Come and let us look one another in the face… and perhaps some of you may love what I am by the grace of God.” John Wesley – The Character of a Methodist Is your heart right, as my heart with your heart? If it is, give me your hand. – 2 Kings 10:15 What is the Character of Methodist Centrists? In 1742, in “The Character of a Methodist,” John Wesley used the quotes above as a central theme. It is Wesley that has inspired the Methodist movement for over 280 years, but it is a movement that is now severely challenged by perhaps the most un-Wesleyan spirit—a spirit of…

  • Reflections on the 2019 General Conference

I returned home this week from the 2019 Special Session of the General Conference of the United Methodist Church.  I was a delegate to this historic conference that was addressing the church’s position on human sexuality.  I was asked by the North Texas Conference to write some thoughts on what happened in St. Louis.  For those who don’t what we hoped for didn’t pass and some draconian legislation did pass.  Legislation that will be found to be unconstitutional according the church law in April.  I say that will happen because the Church Judicial Council has already ruled that it is unconstitutional, and nothing was changed in the legislation that was approved.   However, it was a deeply painful moment as we saw the United Methodist…
