Clarifying items on Facebook

Facebook likes reactionsDoes using social media, especially Facebook, for a small business baffle or even scare you? Whether you like it or not, social media is here to stay. The good news is that social media can be a very powerful business tool, if you use it correctly. Hopefully, this blog series will eliminate some of your apprehension about using social media as a business tool.

Facebook is by far, the largest social media platform.  The best descriptor is that Facebook is the Sun and all of the the other social media are planets and moons in comparison.  That however does not mean that the other social medias don’t have their place with the audience that use each of them.  But as a starting point every business should have a Facebook page. This is a separate Facebook page from your personal page. On your personal Facebook page, you may have family photos, personal thoughts, and non-business related things. A business Facebook page is reserved for just information related to the business. The two are set up and work on Facebook slightly differently. So in this blog, we will cover 5 items about a business Facebook page that may be confusing.

Page Likes

Facebook Page Likes are the #1 thing you are shooting for with the business page. Page Likes are the number of people who are fans of your business and want to hear more from you. You are friends with individuals on Facebook, but you Like businesses.

Post Likes

Another type of Like is on an individual post. While it does not add to your overall audience, it does mean that people are liking the content you put on social media.

Shares

Shares are when someone likes a post and wants their Facebook friends to see it. This will extend the reach of your post, because it can be seen by people who may not have liked your business page. It’s that old heard it from a friend-of-friend sort of thing. Shares become great marketing tools because your fans are helping you to market your product to their friends.

Comments

Comments are the main way Businesses can interact with customers on Facebook. The best use of social media is a way to interact with clientele quickly. No previous form of marketing allowed real-time interaction with the people you are attempting to reach. With social media you are able to respond to questions, kind remarks, or complaints. Facebook even rewards you for responding quickly.  The ideal response time for every comment on your Facebook page is in less than an hour.

Reactions

Reactions are a brand new addition to Facebook. Facebook has added new emojis as a way to interact with a post. Now partnered with post likes, there are “Love,” “HAHA,” “Wow,” “Sad,” and “Angry,” emojis. This adds a whole new way for people to respond to content you put on social media.
